Plug-Box®
These documents will explain the Plug-Box® methodology for interconnection tests.

Plug-Box® introduction
Plug-BOX is the test method created by KPN Telcom for testing network interconnections between wholesale parties. Plug-BOX is in use since 1996 and in the past years has been discussed in national (FIST) and international (ETP) Telecom groups.
Conformance Test (CT)
Both parties exchange so-called Conformance Test reports. These documents have to show the compliancy to relevant international standards (ITU, ETSI) of the switches to be used for interconnection.

Model Compatibility Test (MCT)
The MCT will be executed when the results of the Conformance Test do not offer sufficient confidence in the quality of the switches to be used by either party. The MCT has to check the quality of switches in the operational field. The telco switch will be connected to the test environment of KPN Telecom and on this interconnection, tests will be performed to check whether the switches are compliant with the relevant international standards. This document is currently being revised and will be added a.s.a.p.
Network Interconnection Test (NIT)
When the CT or MCT has been completed successfully, the planned interconnection is created in the operational environment and the NIT is executed. The NIT includes protocol tests (compliancy to international standards), services & reachability tests and charging tests.

First Office Application (FOA)
If you wish to use your own billing system, to create the bills for charging KPN Telecom and/or for checking the bill sent by KPN Telecom, a FOA test will be executed to check the functioning of the new billing system; a large number of calls is made, after which generated CDR's and bills are compared.
